What is Vastu Shastra?

Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian architectural science that deals with the orientation, layout and spatial geometry of buildings. It is based on the principle that cosmic energies — aligned with the cardinal directions, the five elements (Pancha Bhuta) and planetary influences — affect the well-being of those who inhabit a space.

Unlike modern structural engineering, Vastu is a traditional guidance system. It focuses on the flow of energy, light and air within a space, and how these relate to the cardinal directions (North, South, East, West) and their associated deities and planetary rulers.

In Vedic tradition, a well-designed space is believed to support health, prosperity and harmony, while a poorly aligned space may create obstacles. Vastu consultation helps identify and address such spatial imbalances.

How it works

• The site or building is studied with respect to its compass orientation, entrance direction and surrounding features.
• The Vastu Purusha Mandala — the energetic grid underlying the structure — is analysed to identify strengths and imbalances.
• Recommendations are made for room placement, entrance adjustments, elemental corrections and remedies where full structural changes are not feasible.
• All recommendations are traditional architectural guidance and do not constitute structural engineering or construction advice.
